POSITION SUMMARY

Reports To:

Director of ED

Summary:

Employee is primarily responsible for the care of patients in the emergency room. Employee must have up to date knowledge of nursing practices. Employee normally performs the duty assignments according to his or her own judgment, requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary. The assignment is reviewed upon completion.

Work Schedule:

Must be able to work non-standard hours sometimes in excess of 40 hours per week.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education

ASN, BSN, Diploma Degree from an accredited School of Nursing.

Experience

One to two years related experience

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital for your area of responsibility.

Must exhibit basic computer knowledge

Certificates & Licenses

Current RN license with the State of Indiana required. Certification in BLS required. ACLS, PALS and TNCC preferred.

Other Requirements

Knowledge of emergency and basic patient care procedures. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of medications and side effects. Must be able to demonstrate personal conduct within the hospital according to hospital, departmental and professional policies. Math skills to calculate dosages and IV rates. Ability to multitask.

This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, use of hands and fingers, bending, lifting and carrying 0-100 lbs and pushing and pulling 0-100 lbs.
