ABOUT THE POSITION/DEPARTMENT: Under general supervision, delivers and promotes health care services. The School Nurse is a licensed nurse working in the school setting who supports and facilitates the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of students. The school nurse is qualified in preventative health, health assessment, and referral processes. This expertise is utilized in all settings for the organization.

The major focus of school nursing services is to assist in the organization, coordination, and operational procedures of the school health unit; maintain student health records, provide limited direct health care to students and the prevention of illness and disability by the early detection and modification of health problems.

In addition this employee will be administering immunizations as needed.. The major focus of immunization nursing services is to protect the community from vaccine preventable disease by providing education and immunization services to community residents; assesses the immunization status and needs of clients, administers vaccines in accordance with state and federal recommendations and requirements, and educates clients and/or caregivers about immunization topics based on age appropriate care criteria for services ranging from infant to geriatric.)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

BSN or ADN degree in nursing; graduate of an accredited nursing program

Three years' experience in community health nursing or an acceptable combination of education and experience as a professional registered nurse

Must hold or be able to obtain a MT Nursing License.

Possess a current Basic Life Support Certification

Bloodborne Pathogens Training

Possess and maintains valid Montana driver's license

SALARY RANGE: $28.93/hr (Grade 23)

HOURS/DAYS: 30-35 Hours Per Week, M-TH
