Dauphin County Technical School is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and dependable Administrative Assistant to support our Assistant Principals in fostering a positive and efficient school environment. This individual will play a vital role in handling daily administrative tasks, communicating with staff, students, and families, and ensuring the smooth operation of the high school office.

Qualifications:

Must possess a High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Strong organizational and multitasking skills

Excellent written and verbal communication

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Professional, courteous, and student-centered demeanor

Prior administrative or school office experience highly desirable

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide high-level administrative support to the Assistant Principal, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations of the administrative office.

Accurately and professionally prepare, proofread, and manage correspondence, reports, disciplinary notices, and confidential documents.

Serve as a liaison between administration, staff, students, and parents

Assist with documenting and tracking student discipline, including referrals, parent contacts, detentions, suspensions, and other behavioral records.

Help coordinate school events, testing logistics, and staff communications

Maintain and organize confidential student records, ensuring compliance with FERPA and school policies

Coordinate scheduling and maintain the Assistant Principal's calendar, including organizing meetings, disciplinary hearings, student conferences, and other appointments.

Support the coordination of school-wide events, including assemblies, testing logistics (such as Keystone or CDT exams), and other academic or disciplinary functions.

Monitor and update systems used for student behavior tracking, attendance follow-ups, and administrative communications.

Assist with staff communications, including the distribution of memos, meeting agendas, reminders, and other internal information.

Provide backup support to other administrative assistants during absences or periods of high workload, fostering teamwork and operational consistency.
