This is

responsible solid waste and sanitation work involving hauling household trash and debris and recyclable materials for Cumberland County.

Activities associated with the

job include

collecting trash

from

convenience centers,

schools

and

public

facilities

and

transporting loads

the

transfer

station

according

assigned routes

and/or

operating a

ten-ton

truck

haul recyclable materials

from

the

recycling center

the

appropriate

place

for

disposal.

Incumbents must be capable of safely operating a large sanitation truck and/or a

ten-ton

truck utilized by

the

sanitation department.

Incumbents may also be

required to

perform a

variety of

activities associated with maintaining the

county owned convenience centers including cleaning around the dumpsters, performing maintenance duties when necessary. Job related duties require a good driving record, good organizational,

interpersonal

and decision making skills and sufficient strength and agility to perform the

physically demanding aspects

of the

job

variety of

weather

conditions.

Some

activities require

heavy manual

labor

depending upon workload demands. Job performance is

evaluated daily by the Assistant Solid Waste Director and/or Solid Waste Director through review of

the

safe operation of

vehicles and equipment, ability to interact effectively with the public, organizational

and decision-making skills and willingness to complete all job assignments.
