Position Summary The Construction Contract Accountant is responsible for managing the financial accounting, reporting, and analysis of construction-style contracts and project-based work. While CCI is not a construction company, this role is best suited for an individual with construction or contract accounting experience due to the complexity of project cost tracking, revenue recognition, and billing requirements.

This position ensures accurate cost tracking, proper revenue recognition, timely billing, and compliance with accounting standards throughout the life of each project. The Construction Contract Accountant works closely with Program Managers and Leadership to support financial performance, project visibility, and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities Set up and maintain construction-style contracts and projects within the accounting system Track and analyze job costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors Prepare and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and detailed job cost reports Apply appropriate revenue recognition methods in accordance with GAAP and ASC 606 Prepare progress billings, invoices, and reconcile billings to total contract values Track retainage receivable and payable balances Review, record, and monitor approved change orders and budget revisions Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete estimates Identify, analyze, and communicate cost variances and potential financial risks Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports related to project activity Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation Maintain accurate contract files and ensure compliance with contract terms Collaborate with Program Managers to review project performance and profitability

Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction or contract accounting preferred Strong understanding of job cost accounting and WIP reporting Knowledge of construction revenue recognition, including percentage-of-completion accounting Proficiency with construction or project-based accounting software (e.g., Sage, INNERGY, QuickBooks) Advanced Microsoft Office skills, with strong Excel proficiency High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to communicate effectively with both financial and operational teams

Preferred Qualifications Experience in Financial Reporting and Analysis (FRA) or progress toward CPA Experience working in multi-project or multi-entity environments Prior exposure to commercial, residential, or government construction accounting
