Description

The Associate Dean, Access & Retention Services, supports the College's strategic, enrollment management, and completion plans by overseeing the operations of the Accessibility Offices, TRIO, testing and learning support services, and the Academic Engagement Program. Responsibilities related to the Accessibility Offices include: (1) recruiting, hiring, supervising, and developing accessibility staff; (2) ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations; (3) reviewing, interpreting, verifying, and monitoring required professional documentation of students' disabilities; (4) advising students, faculty, and staff on reasonable accommodations for coursework and examinations; and (5) serving as the College's primary ADA compliance officer. Retention-related responsibilities include: (1) recruiting, hiring, supervising, and developing retention staff; (2) evaluating learning support services with a focus on student resilience and retention; and (3) advising faculty and staff on trauma-informed practices and universal design for learning.

Shift: Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Evenings and weekends, as needed.

Location: Springfield Location

This position is eligible for limited telecommuting opportunity on Fridays, with approval. This is subject to change per College needs.

Supervises and manages accessibility and retention staff across all campuses in partnership with the Associate Dean, Regional Campuses.

Conducts student screenings and intake appointments for students requesting services, ensuring required documentation is collected and reviewed as needed.

Collaborates with all campuses to ensure learning support services are accessible, effective, and responsive to student needs.

Provides leadership and strategic direction for retention services and programs, including the Academic Engagement Program, Accuplacer, orientation, testing services, TRIO, tutoring, supplemental instruction, and other learning support services.

Provides faculty and staff with training, individual consultations, and appropriate interventions to promote compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

Maintains current knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, and higher education best practices related to the rights of students with disabilities and the delivery of reasonable accommodations.

Maintains and compiles accurate data for reporting purposes and prepares retention and completion reports as required.

Implements and monitors a case management system used by accessibility staff to document and track student accommodations.

Coordinates retention initiatives, campaigns, and student outreach efforts to promote equitable access to services and support academic success.

Collaborates with faculty and academic deans to establish accommodation standards and promote universal design for learning practice
