General Job Description: This is administrative work planning and directing the activities of a large scale, diversified industries program in a correctional system. The employee in this class plans and directs, through subordinate assistant directors, production activities of correctional industries plants and develops inmate vocational programs in conjunction with industry activities. Work involves evaluating production capabilities, determining feasibility of manufacturing specific products and promoting sales and use of services and manufactured goods.

The Requirements are as follows:

1. EDUCATION: Completion of bachelor's degree in business administration, education, industrial arts, or a closely related field at an accredited college or university.

AND

OPTION 1:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Two years of supervisory experience in a correctional industries or equivalent trades program.

AND

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE: One year of supervisory experience as a Correctional Industries Assistant Director.

OPTION 2:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience in administrative, program, or personnel analysis or planning and managing projects.

AND

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE: One year of second level supervisory experience in one of the following:

analyzing large-scale industry operations for consistency with organizational goals and policies

developing production schedules and setting goals to optimize manufacturing processes

overseeing production/manufacturing operations for quality control and compliance with safety regulations

NOTE:

Additional general or specific experience or completion of a post high school vocational technical program in a relevant trade specialty may substitute for the education on a year for year basis.

Completion of a relevant industry recognized certification may substitute for one year of the required education or general experience on a year for year basis.
