What would a typical day on the job be like? What work would I do?

The Accounting Technician is responsible for performing accounting support work for all programs and activities within the Department of Parks and Recreation. Responsibilities for this position include reconciling P-Card transactions by verifying charges and authorization and maintaining documentation for accuracy and compliance with City policy and departmental procedures. This position will assist with accounting functions during various special event activities throughout the year and participate with year-end inventory reconciliations. Excellent customer service skills will be helpful in this role, as the Accounting Technician may communicate with vendors, personnel, and other members of the community with inquiries regarding transactions, City policies, procedures or with the accuracy of accounts and records.

How much money can I make?

The Accounting Technician is a part-time position with an estimated hiring range between $19.21 - $22.70 per hour. Hourly rates are competitive based on education and experience. Accounting Technicians typically work up to 16 hours per week depending on operational needs.

What are the qualifications for this position?

Requires an Associates Degree in Accounting, Business Management or a related field and 3-5 years of responsible accounting support work or closely related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An acceptable general background investigation to include a local and state criminal history check, and sex offender registry check.
