GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This person assists the Division Director to coordinate the activities of the Municipal Development District (MDD); assists with the administration of the MDD program including prospect development; business/industry contacts; negotiates to encourage location and expansion in Brownwood; assists in the administration of the Hotel Occupancy Tax funds to attract tourists to Brownwood. Provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Brownwood Municipal Development District and City staff when needed. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood I SERVE Core Values.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED:

Assist with the administration of the affairs of the Brownwood Municipal Development District (BMDD)

Responsible for implementing, developing, and revising the overall BMDD Plan

Assists in preparation of the BMDD and HOT annual budgets

Assists with administration of tax incentive programs and incentives for economic development

Assists with recruitment and follows-up on economic development prospects

Assists in obtaining State and Federal Grants/Incentives to assist in economic development

Assists in the development and maintenance of job skills/education programs

Assists in development of strategies to support existing business/industry

Coordinates activities with other economic development organizations

Assists in management of properties owned by the BMDD and/or the City

Assists in negotiations with business/industry representatives to encourage location, retention, and/or expansion

Develops and maintain contacts on a state and national level

Assists in the administration of the Citys Hotel Occupancy Tax funds and overall tourism efforts including budget development, event funding, servicing and marketing

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

At least one (1) year of professional experience in economic/community development or equivalent professional experience.

A Bachelors degree from an accredited university, preferably in Public Administration, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics or other closely related field.

Experience is desirable in the following areas: budgets, work plans, public relations, marketing, economic development incentives and grants.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Ability to sit, stand, and move about an office environment.

Employee occasionally lifts materials weighing approximately 20 to 30 pounds or climbs in order to reach cabinets and files.

Ability to bend and squat in order to file or retrieve information.

May be exposed to electrical, mechanical, or chemical hazards whenoperating/maintaining office equipment.

Ability to see and handle small objects.

Must be able to walk for prolonged distances and tolerate excessive heat/cold and sound when dealing with industrial or work site

environments.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS: Frequent contact with the public, outside agencies and organizations, and other City employees.
