Description

Job Purpose: The Grant Accountant provides primary accounting support to the finance department for activities around grant monitoring, administration, compliance, grant accounting, and financial reports of awarded grants to the agency and its affiliates.

Essential Job Functions:

Prepares and submits financial reports to funding agencies, reconciles grant accounts, and analyzes grant performance.

Processes grant-related invoices, prepares and maintains financial records, and reconciles bank and credit card accounts.

Assists with the preparation of grant applications, including budget development and financial details.

Communicates with internal and external stakeholders regarding grant-related matters, such as program directors and funding agencies.

Assists with preparations for audits

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure and Credentials: (Where appropriate, education and/or experience may be substituted)

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's Degree with a major in accounting or finance

Minimum Required Experience : at least 1-2 years of accounting related experience preferred

Required License - Certification - Registration:

Issued By Governing Body (if applicable): CPA license or CPA candidate preferred but not required.

Travel Type : Less than 10%

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge of relevant bookkeeping/accounting principles

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel

Physical Requirements, Visual Acuity, and Work Conditions:

Physical Requirements: This position does a majority of its work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time

Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal.

Working Conditions : None: The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Work hours are between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Schedule to be negotiated with department director. No weekend or holiday hours required. Overtime is required periodically to meet deadlines. Flexibility in meeting deadlines is necessary.
