Work with Reliability Engineers to plan and perform Finite Element Analysis using Abaqus/Ansys. Collect problem inputs and requirements and create report based on the results of such analysis. Propose design/process modifications based on the analysis results.

The candidate should be competent in taking a design database, mesh it appropriately and conduct analysis independently. The candidate should be familiar with material models, element @types and characteristics, and have good experience in choosing the right boundary and/or initial conditions. The candidate should have a strong proven track record of doing such analysis.

Typically, run following @types of simulations:

Drop and vibration modeling.

Thermal and thermo-mechanical performance.

Assembly process simulation with varying stress states.

Implement global-local modelling techniques.

Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) and sensitivity analyses by varying dimensions of parts in assemblies

Constitutive modeling: Fit parameters of experimental data to available material models. If needed, identify and execute specific materials characterization tests.

Requirements

A deep understanding in mechanics, thermal engineering, simulation methodologies

Degree in Mechanical engineering, Applied Mechanics, or related field

Minimum 3 years hands on experience in the following areas

 Abaqus, Ansys, CREO, HyperMesh

 Mechanics of materials

 Stress analysis, failure theories

 Experimental Property Characterization - polymer, metal

 Linear and non-linear finite element analysis (FEA), especially shock and drop

Familiar with experimental techniques for stress/strain analysis.
