Obtain written and/or verbal assignments from supervision or designated representative. Work from oral or written instructions, data sheets, sketches, L-specs etc.

 Prepare requisitions and obtain parts and materials as required.

 Mechanically inspect and perform routine electrical tests on incoming equipment. Identify reason for failure, determine repairs required and complete inspection reports.

 Dismantle apparatus, mark and tag all parts with proper job numbers for re-assembly. Check fits and make necessary sketches.

 Steam clean and blast clean components where necessary.

 Perform a variety of mechanical repairs or adjustments to apparatus. Includes torch cutting, filing, drilling, tapping and/or re-tapping bolt holes, bearing assemblies etc.

 Measure and make up insulating materials such as; slot liners, ties, wedges, and phase insulation etc.

 Set up and operate coil machines to produce required coils for winding.

 Prepare core for winding, file and grind slots to remove fused copper or burn spots.

Assemble coils in rotor or stator slots according to data sheets and established practices. Insulate, wind and connect completely, tie down and final shape coil extensions to maintain proper clearances, solder and/or braze connections.

Perform necessary in-process tests such as, but not limited to, phase balance, megger, hi-pot etc.

Make repairs to windings and/or leads, reconnect apparatus.

Remove masking compounds or materials and/or varnishes from the apparatus.

Re-assemble completed apparatus for tests, use necessary equipment to obtain proper fits and alignments as specified by the customer or manufacturers specifications.

Perform necessary in-process and final tests, such as megger, hi-pot, phase, balance, and bearing temperature and noise levels. Insure that motors run freely at proper speed and current draw. Record test data as required. Polish shaft extension, paint and prepare for shipment.

Use all required safety equipment and follow all established safety procedures

Keep work area neat, clean and orderly to insure a safe work environment.
